I Tried Doing A Tarot Card Reading

Incense burning, check. Candle lit, very check. According to the little booklet that came with my cards, I was doing everything right to get the best reading. And that's why we bother doing this in the first place right? I want to know my future!

It's no secret I have a witchy fixation, candles, incense, crystals and cute little spell books. It's fascinating, and I feel damn powerful just growing my collection. Recently, I managed to complete that collection with my very own set of Tarot cards. Something I've wanted for a long time but could never find the right set. Well, these are technically Oracle cards, but it's the same gist.
I never intended to actually, do any readings with them just own them. However, my curiosity got the best of me, and I thought "Let's give this thing a go."

So I sat down with my little booklet and cards and began to pay extremely close attention to the instructions because obviously, I have no clue what I'm doing. I read and re-read wondering how the hell I was ever going to memorize it all. Then I decided not to bother if I did any more readings I'd just consult the booklet.
Okay, got it. Let's go.

Incense stick and candle lit, I unwrapped my cards from the black velvet they were in. Apparently, that's what you're supposed to do.
I placed the cards on top of the velvet and sat cross-legged in my "sacred space." Otherwise known as my bedroom floor because what is a sacred space anyway?

After a few minutes of failed meditation, I shuffled the cards and placed them down, ready to read.
This part will probably take some practice to get right, but I think I did it well.
Using my left hand, I spread the cards out like the psychics do in cheesy teen movies with the creepy witch in the corner who predicts that your luck will change. (Just My Luck reference, anyone?)
With the left hand, I closed my eyes and slowly ran it over the cards in order to pick three. I was going to do the past, present, future spread because why not?

I picked out three cards by choosing the ones that made my hand feel a little warm as I hovered over them. It was probably mind-over-matter, but it worked.
Card one to the left, card two in the middle, card three on the right.
Flipping them over, I was ready to consult my booklet to tell me how each card was going to predict my future.
Will I become a billionaire? Will I marry Zac Efron?

Card one "the past" (or what represents me at this current time) was: The World.
"Material wealth, recognition, and rewards are imminent. You are about to start another phase of your karmic journey. A brilliant new phase of life is about to unfold."
Well, okay then. I'm not about to become a bride, but this does sound rather exciting to be completely honest. It's telling me that all good things are about to happen. Now who doesn't want to hear that?

Card number two "the present" (otherwise known as what will lead me to the future) was: The Star.
"You're entering a blessed time of new hope and fulfillment, awash with inspiration. You'll feel more energized than you have before."
Oh damn, on point! You can't deny this result perfectly lines up with the first one. It's in sync with card one. Good things imminent, fulfillment and inspiration? I do hope this one is true. Maybe this ye old tradition is on to something.

Card three "the future" (the path you'll need to follow) was: Change.
"Time to let go, girl. There are actions and people from the past whom you should gently let go of in order to grow. It will soon be your time to shine. To create energy, strength, for new things and a new life."
Change? Yes, I am so ready for a change! Bring on a change!

Overall I may find myself doing this more often. The results were so positive. I'm at a point in my life where I'm ready for it to start. Ready to start my career and get those things I work so hard for and want so badly.
Or maybe the cards are just telling me what I want to hear.

All I can say for sure is I had fun doing this, and the results sparked a glimmer of hope, motivation and inspiration within me. Whether or not they are correct, they sure did make me feel all kinds of happy.
Which isn't a bad thing in my books.

    1. They are quite interesting, I tend to agree. Haha that would be so fun to go get them read. From someone who knows what they're doing that is!

  2. I love tarot reading, and all that. I don't like to life by it or read to much into it but I do find it really interesting.
