My stupidly simple yet absolutely adorable mini Halloween DIY

I hate to say it, but this Halloween has been quite disappointing. The shops are lacking in quality decor, opting for cheap, gimmicky things not worth the second look. Where's the fun in that? Where's my cute stuffed creepy plushies and howling feral black cats? The only excitingly fun thing my local shopping center did was place a Halloween display out full of pumpkins, bats, and spider webs. That's the spirit!
Nevertheless, while browsing every store and the pathetic Halloween sections, I keep an eye out for cute little things I could turn into decor for the house. After all, I don't take much of this stuff down after Halloween. It's Halloween every day for me.

Amongst the cheap, childish crap in Coles, I spotted the cutest treat bags you could ever imagine. Among them was a soft, furry jack-o-lantern treat bag. *heart-eyes* ~sO SoFt~ While I have no need for a treat bag (sadly) I could always go for a new cushion/pillow, and so the ingenious idea struck me.
I was going to turn a Halloween treat bag into a soft cushion, perfect for decor.

Also a simple, quick and easy way to recycle fabric treat bags post-Halloween. We're all about that eco-friendly. The cuter the treat bag, the sweeter the cushion. This DIY is so simple it doesn't even need instructions. Rather a step-by-step list would suffice. Get ready to make some cuteness.

Halloween treat bag turned decor cushion.

Step one: cut the handles from your fabric treat bag clean off.
Step two: stuff the bag with teddy bear stuffing, or leftover faux-spiderweb from your house. Super spoopy.
Step three: sew the top together, while trying to keep the stitches looking as clean as possible. If they can't be hidden.
Step four: place it in position girl because you're done.

This works best with character bags (ghosts, monsters, jack-o-lanterns) and ones that are furry. I half-wish mine was a ghost because how cute would that be? It also doubles as a super soft plush perfect for cuddles. I also can't say what the children will love, but I can't imagine they would dislike their character bags being turned into a new cuddly plush.
Dead simple, creepily cute and so very Halloween. What a perfect way to end this Halloween season.

  1. These are super cute! And totally agree, a ghost would have been extra sweet!

    1. Omg right??!!? I was shattered they only had jack-o-lanterns and no ghosties or black cats. A black cat would have been cute too!

  2. So cute! I love soft, plushies haha. I definitely agree, I don't see the same Halloween spirit I usually see, and it doesn't help that the day is coming up faster than I think. Happy to see that you still could make something so adorable though! :)

    1. Oh same! I'm such a child at heart. So glad I'm not the only one who feels that way this year, I agree, it's going so fast. This DIY is the only Halloweeny thing I've managed to do it's gone so fast ahah.

  3. This is SO cute and looks so much better than the shop's stuff too. I love the emoji cushion as well - I've wanted one for AGES xx
